Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, New York, 1979

This treaty, adopted in 1979 by UN General Assembly resolution 34/180, foments equal rights of men and women and sets up an agenda for national action to end gender discrimination. It is often described as an international bill of rights for women.
