Yesterday, 17 April 2018, Almudena Bernabéu, co-founder and principal of The Guernica Group, spoke at the event “Accountability for the Salvadoran Jesuit Massacre: An Exercise in Universal Jurisdiction”, at UC Berkeley School of Law. During the seminar, she analysed the Jesuit Massacre committed during the Salvadoran Civil War and the investigation and prosecution of this abhorrent crime before the Spanish national courts, following the extradition of Colonel Inocencio Orlando Montano from the United States of America.
We would like to thank the students and other attending members of the university for a deeply interesting and inspiring discussion about international criminal litigation and the enormous potential of the principle of universal jurisdiction as a tool against impunity.
